My 7-year old lost a tooth yesterday, put it under his pillow last night, and when he woke up, it was still sitting there under his pillow, in the pocket of his tooth-shaped tooth pillow...
I completely forgot about my Tooth Fairy duties because after bedtime, I was so obsessed with finding something to satisfy my compulsive craving for extra food. This morning, I felt AWFUL. Just TERRIBLE about it.
He came into our room this morning, and said "Mom, Dad, the tooth fairy didn't come last night!" I heard this and my heart just sank. Luckily, I have a quick-thinking husband who said, "Oh, wow. I guess a lot of kids lost teeth yesterday. The tooth fairy must have been really busy last night. Why don't you put it back under your pillow tonight?"
If moms got"Mommy points," I would have just lost about a bazillion of them.
What a wake up call this is. Not often does life throw me such a salient illustration of how my food addiction directly effects my children. Today, it did and I am supremely humbled.
