Mug Love

When I first got this mug from a friend at my limo-sushi-dancing-regretfully-over-alcohol-fuelled 40th birthday party, I have to admit, I didn't "love" it.

Here's a gift-giving tip. If you're a woman just turning 40…
you might not be thrilled that you are turning 40…so reminders of this kind, are not the best gift choice (even if they have clever phrases on it.)

I have to say, though, this mug is growing on me, and has become my mug of choice.

It's pretty big, for starters.  Since we now leave our Keurig on the size setting just bigger than your average cup of coffee, it requires a bigger mug than usual, or it gets too full when I add milk.

Plus, seeing the word "FORTY"repeatedly … staring at it when I drink my morning coffee has become kind of an exercise in acceptance.  The more I see the word, the more it sinks in, therefore the less I mentally cringe every time I see it.

So, "Thank you, Forty-Mug-Giver."  You have helped me come to terms with the fact that I am 18, with 22 years of experience.
