Avoided tests. It's one of those concepts I learned in college and is still in my mind 20 years later for some strange reason. It basically means not doing something because you assume a certain fact to be true. Like, if there was a company you wanted to work for, but didn't call them because someone told you they weren't hiring. That would be an avoided test. The crux of the lesson, of course, was to avoid avoided tests because they could be an obstacle to your success.

Get Over it Already
I was talking to a classroom mom this morning, and it came out that she was a writer and a blogger. Wow, I thought. We have something in common. We are alike in that way. After four months of not posting, it's so easy to just keep on not posting, to remain in the void, keep the status quo, continue closing off. Today, my victory is breaking out. Writing today just to write because I'm tired of not writing. So, thanks for obliging, dear blog.

Mug Love
When I first got this mug from a friend at my limo-sushi-dancing-regretfully-over-alcohol-fuelled 40th birthday party, I have to admit, I didn't "love" it.
